Places to Visit

A visit to the Bosworth Battlefield Visitor Centre is a must for anyone interested in the period. Sited on Ambion Hill, and with something for all ages, there is a large exhibition of the battle, with interactive maps, displays of weapons and equipment etc., and also battlefield walks and regular tours of the area, a gift shop and restaurant. On the anniversary of the battle, the centre holds the Bosworth Festival, which includes re-enactments of the battle. For more details, see http://www.bosworthbattlefield.com

Re-enacting

There are many groups all over the UK who perform re-enactments of the Wars of the Roses period. Most come under two umbrella organisations: The Wars of the Roses Federation at http://www.et-tu.com/wotrf1/cgi-bin/index.cgi and The Medieval Siege Society at http://www.medieval-siege-society.co.uk

Wargaming

For those who wish to wargame the period, figures can be brought in all scales. Some of the best 28mm are Perry Miniatures (http://www.perry-miniatures.com), who manufacture both plastic and metal, and Front Rank Figurines (http://www.frontrank.com), who manufacture in metal only. Peter Pig (http://www.peterpig.co.uk) produce an excellent range in 15mm, as does Baccus (http://www.baccus6mm.com) in 6mm. There are also growing number of rule sets available including Field of Glory (Osprey), Hail Caesar (Warlord Games) and Clash of Empires (Great Escape Games). Flags for the period can be brought from Freezywater Publications amongst others.
