Conclusion

“The Lord Will Guide You”

I hope this book has encouraged you to discover the richness of a faith walk. I also want this book and the stories in it to provide hope and help as you raise your kids. I hope you will find answers to life problems and raising a family in the Scriptures.

It’s important for single parents to discover the depth of a prayerful life and pass that on to their children by modeling it and taking everything to our Father. Even today my kids know they can call me about a friend or a problem and I will lift them and that situation up to our Lord.

I hope by now you know you are not alone in your journey of parenting kids in a single-parent family.

There is so much I wanted to include, and I keep thinking of passages of Scripture and stories to tell. But each of you can find your own passages that mean something to you and to your particular situation. And each of you will have your own stories to tell and share with other single parents.

One More Thing

If you feel your child or children are out of control, step back, regroup, and reorganize. Then go to your children and tell them you have let things get out of control. Apologize to them. Do this at a calm time when everyone is happy. Have a family meeting where you bring in pizza or serve something special, or go to a local restaurant. Make it a festive occasion. Explain that you are going to be giving them control over their own lives and you’ll do that through a lot of choices. Explain they will have responsibilities.

Set up a few boundaries and explain in advance what they are. Have each kid sign an agreement so you know they understand. The main thing is to be the adult in the home.

And finally, keep on keeping on, my friends!

May abundant blessings be yours as you grow and mature in the Lord.

“The Lord will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring” (Isaiah 58:11 NLT).
