When you are working with the boro technique, you have a choice between two fabric palettes:
- You can choose to stick to indigo dyes and find various shades of indigo, blues, and other similar hues.
- You can add in a dash of other complimentary neutral shades such as blacks, browns, and whites to bring a pop of color.
- One of the things that we are going to try is using different fabrics for the same patch. You could also use one single fabric to get the desired result. However, to add more personality to your denim, you could try multiple fabrics.
- A good way to decide if you are indeed looking for a single fabric or numerous colors to cover up the gap in your denim is to place your choice of cloth against the denim. Place them the way you would like the finished stitch to appear. Then see if you are satisfied with the result.
I would also recommend getting plainly woven, light fabrics that do not have tight stitches.
So whenever you are ready, let us move on to creating a pattern.
