A Blameless Heart

For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong in behalf of those whose hearts are blameless toward Him…

2 CHRONICLES 16:9

What does it mean to have a blameless heart? It means you have a heartfelt desire to do right and to please God. A person who has a blameless heart truly loves God, though he himself may not be blameless or perfect in all of his ways. He may still have weaknesses. He may make mistakes or lose his temper. But when he does, he is quick to repent and receive God’s forgiveness. If he has offended someone else, he will humble himself and apologize. Because his heart is right toward God, it is easy for the Holy Spirit to teach him.

When God searches for those to work through, He doesn’t look for somebody with a perfect performance. If any one of us could have perfect behavior, we would not need Jesus. We can, however, love God with a perfect heart, and when we do, He shows Himself strong on our behalf.
