Maxine Rosenthal

Maxine Rosenthal wrote computer software before most people understood what a computer was. Those early days were a creative time, as programmers developed everything new to meet the needs of the user. Using a symbolic language to create a final product is not much different from using kaleidoscopes to create a quilt. Stretching the boundaries has not changed much for her. Playing with fabric, ideas, and a friend have been the rewards. That Maxine’s daughter, an interior designer, is proud to use her mother’s quilts in her home makes Maxine feel that the process needs to be shared with others.

Joy Pelzmann

Joy Pelzmann has enjoyed a long and varied series of careers. Trained as a researcher in college, she went on to receive a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. Her academic career involved research, teaching, and training. Art and its application to the home arts have been lifelong interests. Now, finally, she is able to devote herself to those on a fulltime basis. Immersed in her work as a quilt artist, she returns to teaching and training as a way of sharing her playful approach to art with others. A mother of three and grandmother of four, she sees life as a series of wonderful moments to be enjoyed and sometimes captured, but always appreciated.
