Often people cook a very basic porridge and then load the toppings on at the end, but to me that’s going about it the wrong way! By cooking the porridge with the honey and butter, every grain gets a glistening coat of sweet silky goodness.
100g rolled oats(not instant)
300g water
100g milk
40g butter, or to taste
30g honey, or to taste½ teaspoon vanillabean paste
Pinch fine salt
Your choice of toppings (fresh fruit, nuts, seeds or yoghurt)
1 Place oats, water, milk, butter, honey, vanilla and salt in TC bowl, cook for 11 minutes, 90°C, reverse speed soft. For a thicker porridge, allow to stand in TC bowl for 5 minutes before serving.
Delicious on its own or serve with your choice of toppings.
NOTE: You can use any proportion of milk and water in this recipe – just ensure the combined total is 400g.
VARIATION: For a vegan and dairy-free alternative, replace the milk with all water or a vegan milk, the butter with coconut oil and the honey with maple syrup.
