Aaron was looking at his latest chart for the research that he conducted earlier before something caught his attention. He saw from the corner of his eyes in the monitor that their facility might have an intruder that night.
Aaron furrowed her eyebrows, leaning closer toward the monitor. That intruder was good when they did not hit any alarm. However, she was not good enough when Aaron saw the steel that was attached to her personnel. It was as if the steels wanted to be seen by Aaron.
“Okay, little thief. I’ll play your game. Who are you?” Aaron asked himself as he was scanning the monitor. Suddenly, he stood up as blood drained from his face. Aaron cursed underneath his breaths before he rubbed his face.
Damn it! It cannot be! How can she be here when we’re only been away for a few days?! Aaron mused, pacing around in his office. Then, he took a deep breath, calming down his nerves. It was not working hence he decided to find Gabriel.
Aaron was breathing hard when he came into the room as Gabriel was looking at him. His cousin was curious why Aaron was looking disheveled as if he had seen a ghost.
Perhaps, he was.
Aaron took a deep breath. Then, he stared at Gabriel. His cousin arched his eyebrows, looking at Aaron with questions in his eyes. Once again, the panic settled in making Aaron breathless at the moment.
“What’s wrong? Was it Bianca? Is she alright?” Gabriel asked him. Aaron straightened up before he was looking at his cousin.
“We got a problem,” Aaron said, moving to the main computer in Gabriel’s room, and typing something. Gabriel looked at him, hoping that Aaron would elaborate more. He waited when Aaron showed the live feed of the CCTV on the long hallway that led to their labs.
“That the Huntress of the Order is here. We have to go. Now!” Aaron said as he tsked and went to overrun the system’s security by running down the virus code that he had practiced for their escape plan was in motion now.
Gabriel glanced over his shoulder as he looked at Aaron. Aaron grunted roughly. “Get your suitcase! Time to break out of this useless prison,” he said, letting the bomb sequence run until the time was off for it to explode.
While Gabriel was busy with his thing, Aaron was looking around for important information about their secret research. Even if they left and burned the facility afterward, their research about the Craving Virus and the Lore of Nos and Lillian cannot be discovered by humans.
Who knew what humankind do with the information that had been kept secret for centuries? Perhaps, they might be helping the Order of the Holy to kill the abomination of the Known World!
Aaron ran out of Gabriel’s room and went to his lab using vampiric speed. Lighting a fire, he burned everything that he held dearly. The photomaps that Aaron created with Gabriel to solve their problems, their research papers that were hidden from their supervisors... Everything at hand might be harmful to the Blue Blood if they were exposed to the Known World.
Aaron was moving them around using the power of his mind. Unlike his cousin Gabriel who can control Cryokinesis, Aaron was not an Elemental. He was inclined more toward Psychic power for he had telekinesis and telepathy at his disposal.
He nodded after Aaron was satisfied with his work to burn their evidence at the facility. Then, he felt Gabriel’s mind. It was a mess right now. Aaron knew Gabriel was in trouble for he felt another presence near Gabriel. That person was close to him. Their presence was elusive and it was not Bianca, Gabriel’s mate.
Aaron cursed when he identified the elusive presence. It was Astrid, the Huntress. Without further ado, Aaron's vampiric sped toward Gabriel. He stumbled in his run as Aaron was in the hallway. Gabriel was shielding Bianca from the arrow that was trained on them. Astrid was there, clenching her jaws when she saw Gabriel was protecting Bianca.
“Drop her now before she can do any more damage,” she said as she was holding the crossbow to Gabriel. Bianca whimpered behind him. Astrid was nudging her crossbow, asking Gabriel to make a choice; his life or his mate.
Aaron’s vision turned grey. He felt his protective instinct inside his chest as it was kicking in to protect what he considered his; Gabriel and Bianca.
“No can do, princess, we have to get going now. Too bad you would not be joining us,” Aaron said as he attacked her from behind in the hallway. Astrid dodged his attacks as he pushed her out of the way, letting Gabriel and Bianca get out of the room.
Aaron knocked her crossbow out of her hands. Astrid gritted her teeth before she took out her daggers from their concealment. They were circling each other, dancing dangerously with daggers and crossbows.
Astrid took her first step to attack but Aaron blocked her advances. He pushed her to the floor, throwing her daggers away. They crushed onto each other and, ever the opportunist, Aaron’s cock stirred at the contact.
What the hell?! Aaron mused as he was blocking Astrid from killing him with her daggers. He glanced over his shoulder and locked eyes with Gabriel. “Go, Gabe. Run now,” Aaron shouted as he was stopping Astrid to go after Gabriel and Bianca.
Aaron hugged Astrid’s waist and pulled her to the ground. He landed on her back as Astrid was trying to get to Gabriel and Bianca. “Get off me, you big oaf,” she hissed. Astrid turned around as Aaron was gripping her wrists tightly. A smirk was plastered to his lips.
He shook his head. “No can do, I don’t want you to hurt my cousin,” he hissed at her before Astrid narrowed her eyes. Gabriel was waiting for Aaron. He signalled Gabriel to get away as Astrid landed a punch to his cheek.
