Chapter 7

The truck arrived at the Order’s safe house in Transylvania. The backdoor was opened, revealing that the safe house was indeed a cave that had been carved out from the inside out. This precaution was to ensure that the Order of the Holy would not be attacked by the abomination that might get their hands on the information about the safe house.

Thankfully, there were more than 200 safe houses of the Order across the globe to choose from.

“I see that you’ve chosen your lair very dramatically, Huntress,” Aaron stated as Astrid was looking at him. She narrowed her eyes. He smirked before he started to whistle loudly, which was kind of annoying. His cage has been transported into the cage and Astrid was left alone with him. She shook her head, rubbed her temples, and sighed softly.

“I know what you’re doing, abomination. You’re trying to get on my nerves so that I will lose control and you have the advantage to escape from me,” Astrid said with her hands on her hips. Aaron smirked when his eyes were looking at Astrid up and down. She rolled her eyes before Aaron was leaning against the bar.

“Is it working, dragul meu? I wouldn’t know since you’re the receiving end of my annoyance. Plus, your leather suit is great on you. I hope you will keep it later even though you’re not working for the Order anymore.” Aaron replied nonchalantly as he was looking at her.

Astrid rolled her eyes at his jest. She unlocked the cage by keying in the passcode. The keypad beeped and the cage opened. Aaron was still leaning against the bar when Astrid dragged him out of the cage.

“You’re such a tease, dragul meu. I wonder if you would lead me astray to have some romantic escapade for a moment,” Aaron whispered huskily against her neck. Astrid glared at him as she pointed the sharp stake against his chest. Aaron smirked even wider.

“If I wanted a sexual encounter, I would have painted the town red. It’s not like I’m lack of options to choose from. Besides,” Astrid provoked as she leaned closer. Their mouths were inches from each other.

“You’re not my type at all, Covaci, because you’re an abomination,” she whispered as Astrid dragged Aaron out of his cage. Aaron laughed wholeheartedly. His laughter echoed across the cave. Astrid’s heart ached at the sound.

“Then, I’m honored when your first kiss is claimed by me, Huntress, the very abomination that you despise,” Aaron retorted. Astrid scoffed before showing him the dungeon prison that he would be staying at when he was in the Order’s custody. He whistled as Astrid dragged him to the wall. She pushed Aaron by the chest. The bloody bastard smirked when Astrid was squeezing his hard, muscular chest.

“Well, you do know how to make an entrance on your prisoner, Huntress. I wouldn’t be surprised if they cower before you. Unfortunately, you stuck with me so I guess we’ll have to wait and see,” Aaron whispered huskily. Astrid glared at him.

“Do you always talk too much like this?” She asked him while securing Aaron with the chains on the walls. She knew that the chain would hold on against Blue Blood’s super strength when Astrid was securing it on his neck.

Aaron chuckled wickedly. “Wow, you do know your stuff, Huntress. I wouldn’t want to know what you will do to me when we’re in bed together later on,” he purred as Astrid secured the chains tightly against his wrists, ankles, and neck. Astrid stood up as she was glaring hotly at him.

“Listen here, abomination. My job is to make this place—the Known World—a better place and I cannot do that if your kind is running around in the shadows. Your kind is not helping the Order when they’re going berserk now and then,” Astrid hissed, locking her violet eyes with his green ones. Aaron shrugged nonchalantly.

I swear one of these days, I will kill you with my own bare hands, Aaron Covaci but until then, I will try to get as much information as I can out of you, abomination, Astrid mused as she listened to Aaron.

“You know not every Blue Blood will go berserk into a Vampire state, Huntress. I mean, take me as an example. I’m a Blue Blood and I’m not going berserk as you claimed. Plus, I know you appreciate that I didn’t when I met you again after that disastrous date we had a couple of weeks ago,” Aaron said, smirking as he leaned closer.

Astrid glared at him. “We don’t talk about the past which happened to be a grave mistake on my part,” she hissed at him when Astrid was chaining his neck. Aaron laughed. His chest was puffing up and down as his hot breaths hit Astrid’s cheeks.

“I see that you don’t want to remember our date, Huntress. Are you ashamed that you’re attracted to the abomination that you swear to kill on sight? Book browsing inside an antique bookstore after we had our gelatos. Then, we were dancing under the stars and you seduced me—”

Astrid gripped his chain tightly, bringing Aaron’s face closer. He smirked when he saw the blazing fire inside her violet eyes.

“I’m not seducing you, Covaci, and the whole meeting has been planned from the start. I know that you’ll be visiting that coffee shop every Thursday and since you like to get all-black coffee, I ordered something else to deter you from your routine by taking what’s yours. You followed me into the death trap that I set up,” Astrid smirked as she tilted her head to the side. Her eyes were focusing on Aaron’s lips.

“How can you not possibly see the deception that I planned so immaculately? Even you cannot decipher that I’m working with the Order when you fell for my charms,” Astrid whispered huskily.

Any trace of laughter and smirks was gone from Aaron’s face as he was focusing on her lips. Astrid was getting frustrated with him, thinking that Blue Blood—especially Pure Blood—had that much annoyance in their dark self.

Case in point; Aaron Covaci.

“Was it, dragul meu? Was it your part, the deception that you’re so proud of—that made me fall for your charms during our dates on Sicily Island?” Aaron asked with a challenge in his emerald eyes.

He looked at Astrid as if he had the knowledge that meant more than the cat-and-mouse game between them. His green eyes were shining brightly against the dim lighting of the dungeon.

Astrid bit her lower lips. She knew the persona that she carried herself in Sicily wasn’t the Huntress that she debuted by the Order. In that moment with Aaron Covaci, she was simply Astrid Larsen, a Norwegian girl who was a polyglot—Romanian was one of the languages that she mastered—and had acquired wicked skills with weapons and poisons, among other things.

Astrid knew that she was not good at flirting with the opposite sex but being with Aaron made it so easy when she talked to him. He was charming and friendly. Not to mention that his eyes were emerald green and his hair was black as coal. Astrid sighed softly when she was staring at him right now. Her violet eyes were focusing on his lips.

Aaron chuckled. “So... It wasn’t a hunt that day then, dragul meu. You did enjoy my company,” he whispered huskily as he was leaning closer to cement their kiss. Astrid wanted to feel his lips again.

However, she moved away as she knew there were CCTVs everywhere in the dungeon. Astrid did not want to be branded as a traitor in the Order simply because she could not keep her needs and desires in check. She scowled at Astrid before stepping away from Aaron. She got out of his dungeon prison while Aaron was smirking at her. His eyes simply followed Astrid’s steps until she closed the doors of his dungeon prison.

Aaron licked his lips. Astrid scowled as she crossed her arms. “You don’t need to fret, dragul meu. This prison,”—Aaron stared at his surroundings as a simple sconce was the only lighting source for his duration in the prison dungeon—“is nothing but a sham to keep me inside here.” Aaron retorted. Astrid scowled.

“Then, I hope you’ll enjoy your stay until your last breath, abomination,” Astrid hissed. Then, Aaron laughed wholeheartedly.

Is this abomination insane? Going berserk? How can he be happy when he is locked up in a dungeon that is specifically designed to contain someone like him? Astrid mused before her violet eyes clashed with Aaron’s emerald orbs.

“I’ll be waiting for you, dragul meu, to get your good senses back,” Aaron whispered against the dark as Astrid was locking up his prison. The keypad beeped. She stared at him nonchalantly.

Aaron smirked. “And then you’ll beg me to make you mine for all eternity of our lives together. I can promise you that, dragul meu,” he added.

Astrid scoffed at him as she leaned against the bar. She smirked. “And as I said before, Covaci, in your fucking nightmare,” she replied before turning her back on him. However, Aaron only smirked the whole time when Astrid left his dungeon prison.
