Chapter 24

Astrid smiled as she was walking up to Aaron when she got out of the toilet that she needed to use after the wait in the city hall. She perked on his lips just because.

Aaron blinked his eyes before amusement lightened his green eyes. He arched his eyebrow as he looked at his wife.

“Now, why would you do that, dragul meu? In public, nonetheless?” he asked as he was slipping his hand on her waist.

Astrid smiled. The mischief was obvious in her violet eyes as she slipped her hand into the back pocket of Aaron’s jeans.

“Just because. Can’t I do that with my husband out in public, min kjærlighet? From what I heard, it was not a crime to show affection toward one’s spouse,” she replied as she nuzzled his neck.

Aaron growled as he pulled her front closer to his side. Astrid laughed wholeheartedly when her husband was showing his possessive side.

Not that she ever had anyone getting possessive over her. It was an exhilarating feeling to feel after all!

“You’re playing with fire, dragul meu. I’m sure you don’t want to retire to our bed first thing after getting married,” Aaron whispered huskily. Astrid gasped as her violet eyes stared into his green eyes.

“No... I would rather explore the city first before we do something drastic like that,” she replied, whispering her answer against Aaron’s lips. Her husband smirked before pulling her hand to leave the city hall’s lobby as they went out into the streets.

Astrid was putting the temporary marriage certificate in the folder neatly to ensure that they had their copies if they ever needed them. Then, Aaron put it away into the backpack that he carried.

“Now the tricky part is done, can we move to go past the kiss now when we’re alone, dragul meu?” Aaron asked, nuzzling his wife’s neck.

Astrid laughed at his brazen behavior out in the open. She pushed him away gently, warning her husband that they needed to get the groceries for their stay in the humble crib that they called their home at the moment.

“On second thought, min kjærlighet, why don’t we spend some time around here? I’m sure you’re famished, min kjærlighet. I heard about this one restaurant that is located right up at that corner from this street. The review stated that it has great, authentic Romanian cuisine that I want to try on. It’s been forever since I had some anyway,” Astrid said, smiling sweetly as she was putting her hands on Aaron’s chest. Her husband narrowed his eyes. Suspicion flared in his eyes as Astrid batted her lashes.

“And what we will do after that, dragul meu? Do you have any other plans for us to fulfill until the sun is completely gone from the horizon?” Aaron asked, arching his eyebrow. His stare was focused on his wife’s face.

Astrid looked away as she blushed with the sensual tone that Aaron carried in his question. She shrugged.

“Oh, I don’t know!” she replied, biting her lower lip. Aaron’s focus shifted to that small gesture.

I got you now, min kjærlighet, she mused as she batted her lashes again.

“We’ll just have to go with the flow. Who knows what other surprise will come our way,” Astrid stated nonchalantly as they were walking hand-in-hand. They were strolling down the street as Astrid led him toward the aforementioned restaurant.

Aaron was smirking at his wife. He looked around their surroundings. Even though the sun was hidden against the thick clouds in the skies, he was still aware that he needed to be in the shade to prevent his skin from burning.

Plus, he needed to prepare Astrid for the transformation of her life to join their life forces together—for eternity. This ought to be a good practice for her to be aware of at all times.

Even though Aaron knew that Astrid would have no problem adapting when she had the acquired skills to be the former Huntress of the Order.

“Well, in that case, I’m glad you say that since I have booked ourselves at the Conti Lodging in Cluj-Napoca,” Aaron dropped the bomb that he had been withholding since their journey to the city hall.

Astrid blinked her violet eyes. Then, she was staring at him, blinking once more as she processed the new information that had been shared by her husband in the blink of an eye.

“Correct me if I’m wrong, min kjærlighet, but did you just say that you did what I think it is?” she asked, trying to confirm what she heard was true. Her heart beat faster as Astrid stared into his green eyes.

Aaron smirked as he was caressing his wife’s face with the back of his fingers.

“I have booked ourselves a honeymoon suite at the Conti Lodging in Cluj-Napoca. It’s not too far from here. I want you all to myself. Nevertheless, I have my cousin there hence I will have to behave and reign in my possessive side with you, dragul meu,” Aaron said nonchalantly.

Both of them were making their way toward the restaurant that served authentic Romanian cuisine. Aaron noticed that Astrid was quiet. He looked at her, arching his eyebrow before he noticed that she was gulping at the prospect of meeting his side of the family.

No one important, only his cousin but perhaps his wife was overthinking that they might not accept her into the family.

That would be impossible since Alina and Kyle—his cousins—were the ones that always went against the odds considering Kyle was once a human that was transformed into a blue blood by Alina.

“We will be meeting your cousin? Don’t you think it will be a little too soon for me to meet them, min kjærlighet?” Astrid asked him. Her voice was soft, squeaking like a mouse. Aaron smiled at his wife.

“Don’t you worry, dragul meu? I’m sure Alina and Kyle—her husband—will be thrilled to hear from you. However, I have to warn you, Astrid, both of them are Blue Blood like me. So, I need you to reign in your killing instinct that has been trained in you since childhood. I don’t want a bloodbath during our family reunion.” Aaron warned as Astrid scowled at his accusation.

Aaron hid his smile as he loved that little scowl on her lips whenever Astrid disagreed with him.

“As if I would kill them, Covaci. You know I knew the truth about the Order of the Holy. Do you think I would kill anyone—even if they are from entirely another species—like a psychopath? I thought you knew me better than this,” Astrid replied, scowling as she pulled her hand from the back pocket.

She tried to walk ahead but Aaron gripped her wrist and turned her around. He grabbed her face and kissed her. He refused to let the public inhibit him from kissing his wife wherever, whenever he wanted.

Even though he knew that Astrid would have another thing coming. Something along the lines of being proper and etiquette in the polite society.

What can he say? Aaron Covaci loved his mate and will always show his love for her.

Aaron!” Astrid hissed as she broke their kiss. Aaron licked her lower lip before stepping back.

“We’re here, dragul meu. I’m sure you’ve been famished since our walk. Better get some food in you before you become hangry,” Aaron teased as he opened the door for her. Astrid glared at him as they stepped into the restaurant.
