Chapter 30

“You need to have faith, Astrid. Faith will keep you going forward. Let the bygone be bygone. I’m sure you would be feeling out of place since you used to be going against us,” Alina chuckled at her joke. Astrid smiled.

“However, I know from the deepest depth of my heart that Aaron would not be sleeping with the enemy if he did not have any feelings for you. Well, I’m sure he never saw you as the enemy because you got his ring on your finger,” Alina added, smiling wickedly and winked at her. Astrid blushed and cleared her throat.

“I... I would not... No, we don’t... It was not... we’ve never shared a bed if you must know,” Astrid blurted out. Her heart pounded in her chest as blood roared in her ears. Alina chuckled again as she draped her arm around Astrid’s shoulders.

Yet, Astrid. Only time will tell when you will be his wife in truth,” Alina replied, winking her eyes again as Astrid grunted loudly. She mumbled underneath her breaths. Alina laughed as her laughter carried across the premises.

Hmm... Now, I see why Aaron finds you interesting enough and wants you all to himself,” Alina continued, hitting their shoulders together. Astrid bit her lower lip as they walked up to Aaron and Kyle who were talking animatedly with each other.

As they came closer to their respective husband, Astrid noticed that they were talking in front of the chalet that looked a lot like a cabin. Was that cabin number 13?

Astrid looked at Alina who was whistling happily. The redhead arched her eyebrow before she spoke up about what was on her mind.

“Alina, I thought you were giving us the honeymoon suite? Are you saying that—?”

Astrid was cut off when Alina put her fingers against Astrid’s lips. The redhead hushed her when she winked her eyes. A dimple showed up on her left cheek as Aline went to Kyle’s side.

“And here we are, cousins, your honeymoon suite. I hope the stay is up to your standards, Aaron. I’m sure you will be delighted to spend some time with your wife away from us,” Alina said, winking her eyes at Aaron.

Kyle chuckled softly, putting his hand on Alina’s waist. Astrid’s heart skipped a beat at their camaraderie as well as the love that was blossoming through their eyes.

They look so sweet together, Astrid mused as she turned her face to look at her husband. Aaron was staring at her. His eyes were hooded as his hand was caressing her waist. A shiver ran down her spine as lust and love gripped her heart.

“Enjoy your stay, cousins and I’m sure you will have good news later on. Perhaps the news is about a little nephew or niece?” Alina teased, smiling wickedly.

Kyle nuzzled her neck as Alina winked her eyes when she noticed that Astrid had gone beet red. Kyle chuckled when Aaron was shifting on his feet as Astrid blushed even more.

“It will be done soon enough, cousin. You can be sure of that,” Aaron said teasingly before Astrid was glaring at him.

Alina clapped her hands, squeaking like a mouse before Kyle pulled away to let the newlyweds have their alone time together. The couple walked away, leaving Astrid and Aaron together to their devices. Aaron offered his hand.

“Shall we, dragul meu?” Aaron whispered as Astrid slipped her hand. He unlocked the door and turned the doorknob. The door opened as Aaron pushed it further.

The chalet smelled of clean linen and cleaning supplies. Aaron’s green eyes stared into her violet eyes. They stared at each other for a moment before Astrid took the first step down the rabbit hole that was known as their honeymoon suite.

Aaron took his steps, following his wife’s pursuit into the rabbit hole. Both of them walked inside the cabin. Their eyes were taking in everything that was on display in the honeymoon suite.

It was bigger than I thought, Aaron thought as his green eyes scrutinized the suite. He thought that it would be a simple cabin since the location of the lodges was in the middle of the woods.

However, Alina and Kyle proved to be different in their business approach.

The honeymoon suite has a separate kitchenette and dining room. The dining room had a table that could seat up to four people at a time. The kitchenette was equipped with a portable stove as well as some pots and pans that Astrid might use during their stay.

Plus, there was a small space for Aaron and Astrid to sit, filled with a wide lounge and a divan that they could use to watch the television. After they had scanned all the amenities that were available in the suite, both of them noticed that there was a bed in the middle of the cabin.

Aaron hid his smirk, nodding his approval when he put their shared luggage down near the built-in wardrobe. He rubbed his palms against his jeans. His green eyes were locked upon his wife.

Astrid, ever the Huntress that was ingrained in her, was looking around. Her hands were on her hips, turning her body around to get a sense of her new environment. Despite that, her violet eyes were mostly looking at the giant canopied bed that was draped with silk in lieu in the middle of the suite.

“Well...” she said after clearing her throat, “It’s much more than I expected. Not too shabby for our honeymoon, I supposed,” Astrid added, nodding her approval.

Listening to her declaration, Aaron smiled at her as his green eyes were tracking her every move. He already knew what was going on inside her head as her thoughts were flying around in the air for Aaron to read without invading her privacy.

Should I shower? Astrid’s first thought assaulted his brain.

Will Aaron ask me to shower with him or should I wait until he’s finished? Would be awkward for us to share a shower? What the heck?! He’s my husband, of course, it was in my lawful right to be able to shower with him! She mused aloud as Aaron tried to hide his smirk.

However, the worst of them all was...

Are we going to stay up all night? Would he devour me until the end? I don’t remember what happened after we had our pleasure together that night after our marriage registration at the city hall. Have I been devoured by him before? Astrid mused aloud as she was biting her lower lips.

Aaron groaned softly, hiding the smile that was forming after reading her intrusive thoughts. He couldn’t afford to think of anything else at the moment.

He moved around the cabin, trailing after his wife like a predator would toward its prey. His green eyes tracked movement outside the window, taking into consideration where they were.

Unfortunately, it was still high noon for them to end up on their marriage bed when Aaron knew Astrid would love to explore the property. Perhaps, his wife would love to enjoy swimming in the lake at the end of the Conti Lodges.

Right, that would be a good idea! I think we can go for a swim in the lake that I know is a secret spot for us, Aaron thought as he cleared his throat to get his wife’s attention. Astrid turned her head to stare at his face.
