A wooden table and three wooden chairs. A few short-stemmed flowers in a small glass vase on the table. Rugs. Beirut’s “Scenic World” begins.

Barbara enters with a tablecloth, which she lays over the table. Soon, Marian and Benjamin bring in plates, silverware, glasses, etc., which they set in the middle of the table. Barbara leaves. Marian goes off in a different direction.

Then Richard enters and sits at the table with Benjamin, both with coffee cups. Marian returns and joins them at the table. The Beirut fades, and from a CD playing in the next room, we hear the Kyrie from Duruflé’s Requiem.

Lights come up on them listening.
