When you meet with a new plant,
never observed before, do not touch it
immediately. Observe how the flowers
are not yet in bloom but appear within
a few days of coming to perfection. Now
open a few, finding them papilionaceous.
The tip of the standard, as well as of the
keel, has a purplish hue. The whole habit
of the plant shows it to be an Astragalus.
For the present time, call it Liquiritia minor.
Nomina si nescis, perit cognitio rerum.
Only after it is named is a thing known.
