ACT 1, SCENE 9
DITTE: My dear Esme,
Your new friends sound like an interesting pair. A lack of convention can be liberating, if challenging.
You ask how my work goes. Well. My much-loved friend Sarah Brooks, a fellow historian, has come to live in Bath with her husband Philip, whom I have always liked. They plan to emigrate next year, so I am making the most of their company while I can. Perhaps one day you may spend a little time with us. I would so love to introduce them to you and you to them.
With my love,
Ditte
