Grandma’s Green Beans

This recipe is easy to double if you need extra servings for a church social or buffet. Serve these green beans with meatloaf or any grilled meat.

Serves 6

Ingredients:

  1. Add the green beans and onion to the slow cooker. Depending on your preference, you can either scrub and dice the potatoes or peel and dice them. Add the potatoes to the slow cooker along with the sugar, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dice the bacon and add ⅔ of it to the slow cooker. Stir to mix well. Sprinkle the remaining bacon pieces over the top of the beans mixture. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until the potatoes are cooked through. Taste for seasoning and add additional salt and pepper if needed.

Fresh Green Beans

You can substitute a pound to a pound and a half fresh washed, trimmed, and cut green beans for the frozen. Increase the cooking time to 6 hours if you do.
