VERB LIST COMPILATION: ACTIONS TO RELATE TO ONESELF
Richard Serra
1967–68
In the late 1960s, American sculptor Richard Serra wrote Verb List Compilation: Actions to Relate to Oneself – four columns mainly composed of verbs in their infinitive form, all of which describe actions that can be carried out on materials during the artistic process. He then used the list as a blueprint for his later work.
