Focus Report
Time to focus! Select five Bugs from your Bug Report that you would like to explore for possible innovations. The Focus Report
will help you narrow your innovation. Write a Bug in its own box, then EXPAND possible solutions for each Bug in each box. Rank in order of preference.
Remember
an innovation is not an innovation unless it is implemented. If your possible solutions are not implementable, rework them
.
Ideate Grid
The Ideate Grid
will help you ideate five solutions to your favorite Bug and help you identify a possible combination from the Focus Report.
Ideate Grid Instructions:
- Write your top ranked Bug and possible solution from your Focus Report in the top box.
- List five solutions you could implement to make it happen.
Implementation Presentation
Select one or a combination of solutions from your Ideate Grid to implement. Keep in mind the title of this section…implementation
. An innovation must be implemented to be an innovation. Insisting that you “Would do it if you had the time or money,” or “All my friends think it’s a good idea,” is not implementation.
Prepare and present your innovation to your class after you have implemented it.
Implementation Presentation Instructions:
Create a 5 – 7 slide Keynote presentation or 2-3 minute iMovie
1. Include your identified problem.
2. Steps taken to innovate.
3. Final outcome of innovation.
a. props, and prototypes to help show implementation.
After your presentation:
Now that you have completed the $5 Innovation, reflect. Do you feel you have a grasp of innovation? If the answer is no, there is nothing to worry about. Innovation is a continuous process. Although you may feel you did not learn how to innovate, you learned a lot that can be applied. Keep an open mind for the next innovation.
