About the Authors
Dr. Ryan Van Zee
, is an Associate Professor of entrepreneurship and the Executive Director of the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship at Dakota Wesleyan University, in Mitchell South Dakota. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northern State University, a Master of Arts degree from California State University, and a Doctoral Degree from the University of South Dakota.
Van Zee came to DWU with eight years’ experience as the director and assistant professor of entrepreneurial studies with the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation at the University of Sioux Falls.
Van Zee received the 2014 Rotary West Presidential Service Award; was a 2013 Autonomous Learning World Caucus Participant from Exeter College, Oxford; a Top 10 finalist for the 2016 South Dakota Governor’s Giant Vision Business Plan Competition; and spoke at the 2018 United States Association of Small Business Educator’s international conference.

with Teresa Quinn.
Teresa Quinn
, M.Ed., is a California native with strong family ties to northeastern South Dakota. Quinn served as the Assistant Director of the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship, and an Assistant Professor of entrepreneurship at Dakota Wesleyan University, in Mitchell South Dakota from 2016-2018. Quinn sat on the Faculty Development Committee and was the CEO Club advisor for the CEO Club chapter at Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell.
Quinn holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Small Business Entrepreneurship from California State University, Dominguez Hills, Carson, California, and a Master of Education degree in Sports Management from Northcentral University, Prescott Valley, Arizona. Quinn is finishing her dissertation research for her Ph.D. in Industrial Organization Psychology from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona. Her dissertation research is on student’s perceptions of innovation curriculum.
Prior to coming to DWU Quinn worked more than 14 years with the Leona Group, at Desert Hills High School in Gilbert, AZ, and El Dorado High School, in Chandler, AZ, as a teacher in several elective subjects, soccer coach, and the school’s athletic director.
Besides her work at DWU, Quinn is co-author of The Entrepreneurial Experience: Start Your Business,
with Dr. Van Zee, a hobby farmer, successful small-business owner, and mother of three.
