David Philipps is a national correspondent for The New York Times, where he has sought to write about military and veterans from the ground up. His first job was delivering the Colorado Springs Gazette Telegraph by bicycle, and he has been in the news business ever since. His articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and The Seattle Times, among other publications. His military coverage won the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting, and he was twice named a Pulitzer finalist, for local reporting and for breaking news. He lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with his family.
