Epilogue
Titan
Two and a half years later
“Everything okay?” I shout from the bottom of the stairs.
“Just give me a few more minutes,” my gorgeous wife calls back from the bathroom.
“Okay.”
I’m getting nervous. My brother Blaze is getting married today, and we’re running late. If we don’t leave soon, we’ll miss the first part of the ceremony, which would be awkward.
Then again, they won’t start the ceremony without us.
“Mommy?” our daughter Bella asks.
She just learned to talk and is the absolute cutest kid ever.
“She’ll be down any minute,” I tell her.
Just when I’m about to go up to ensure everything is okay with Harper, she appears at the top of the stairs. She looks breathtaking. Don’t get me wrong; she’s beautiful every day of the year, but today, even more so. She has a glow that makes her even more gorgeous. It’s cute how happy she is for my brother.
We get into the car and head to the little chapel where Blaze is getting married to his fiancé.
“Phew, brother, you sure cut it close,” he says when he sees me. Then he frowns. “You’re not late because you were having sex, right?”
I laugh. “No, but that would’ve been funny.”
“Hilarious.”
“Come on, man, let’s get you married.”
I slide into the empty seat next to my wife and daughter and give both a kiss. “How are my favorite girls doing?”
Bella is playing with a toy, and Harper gives me a big smile. She leans over to me and whispers: “I’m sorry I made us late. But I was taking a pregnancy test.”
“No way,” I say, crossing my fingers that it’s positive.
“You’ll have to decorate the third bedroom because I’m pregnant again,” she says.
“Fuck, yeah.” I kiss her, not caring about the looks people are giving us.
I spent the rest of the day in a state of utter bliss and walk on clouds while I get my girls something to drink.
My brother Skyler joins me at the bar of the wedding venue. “I can’t believe we all got so lucky to find the love of our lives.”
“We are lucky bastards, that’s for sure,” I say.
I mean it. I have an amazing wife, a daughter, and a baby on the way. A wife who hosts the state’s most popular podcast, mind you. After Harper discovered the torn fabric, a suspect was identified and arrested. Isabella Cinder was found in a remote cabin a couple of hundred miles from Bearclaw Ridge, where she was held hostage for two years. Thanks to my amazing wife, she got out and has the opportunity to live again.
I let out a big sigh and smile contently. My life is fucking perfect.
