The San Fernando Valley’s first oil well was dug right here in 1916, in what had been fertile farm and orchard land. Though most of the homes in Mission Hills and North Hills were built in the fifties, if you look hard you can find a few adobes that have been standing since those early days of well drilling and ranching.
