Reseda is more blue collar than upmarket neighbors Encino and Tarzana, but it alone has been immortalized in a Tom Petty song, “Free Fallin’.” It has been mostly forgotten that the epicenter of the 1994 Northridge earthquake was located in Reseda at Wilbur Avenue and Saticoy Street, not in its namesake town, Northridge. Too bad the geologists didn’t figure that out until a week after the quake, by which time the media had already churned out graphics and segments—accuracy be damned.
