And Lamech married two women: the name of the first was Adah and the name of the second was Zillah. And Adah gave birth to Jabal: he was the ancestor of those who live in tents and with livestock. And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the ancestor of those who play the lyre and the flute. And Zillah gave birth to Tubal: he was the ancestor of those who forge tools of copper and iron, and his sister was named Naamah. And Lamech said to his wives:
“Adah and Zillah, hear my voice;
you wives of Lamech, listen to my words.
I have killed a man for wounding me,
I have slain someone for harming me.
If Cain is avenged seven times,
then Lamech seventy-seven times.”
