Genealogies [P, J]

And Noah lived three hundred and fifty years after the flood. And he died when he was nine hundred and fifty years old.

These are the descendants of the sons of Noah — Shem, Ham, and Japheth — and of the sons who were born to them after the flood. The sons of Japheth are Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. And the sons of Gomer are Ashkenaz, Riphath, and Togarmah. And the sons of Javan are Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittites, and the Rodanites; from them the nations of the coastland spread out. These are the sons of Japheth, by their clans and languages, by their countries and their nations.

And the sons of Ham are Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. And the sons of Cush are Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. And the sons of Raamah are Sheba and Dedan. And Cush fathered Nimrod, who was the first great conqueror on earth. He was a mighty hunter; hence the saying “Like Nimrod the mighty hunter.” And the main cities of his kingdom were Babel, Erech, and Accad, all of them in Shinar. From that country he went into Assyria and built the great city of Nineveh and its suburbs, and also Calah, and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah. And Egypt fathered the Ludites, the Anamites, the Lehavites, the Naphtuhites, the Pathrusites, the Casluhites, and the Caphtorites, from whom the Philistines descended. And Canaan fathered Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth; and the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites, the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. (Afterward the clans of the Canaanites spread out, and their territory extended from Sidon toward Gerar, as far as Gaza, and toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.) These are the sons of Ham, by their clans and languages, in their countries and their nations.

And Shem also had sons; he was the father of all the sons of Eber, and the elder brother of Japheth. The sons of Shem are Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram. And the sons of Aram are Uz, Hul, Gether, and Mash. And Arpachshad fathered Shelah; and Shelah fathered Eber. And Eber had two sons: the name of the first was Peleg, Division, because in that age the inhabitants of the earth were divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan. And Joktan fathered Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, Obal, Abimael, Sheba, Ophir, Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan. And their settlements extended from Mesha toward Sephar, as far as the hill country to the east. These are the sons of Shem, by their clans and languages, in their countries and their nations.

These are the clans of the sons of Noah, according to their origins, by their nations. And from them the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
