And Jacob set out from Beer-sheba and traveled toward Haran. And when he came to a certain place, he stopped for the night, because the sun had set.
And the Lord stood beside him and said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will be with you and will protect you everywhere you go, and I will bring you back to this land.”
And Jacob woke up and said, “Truly, the Lord is present in this place and I didn’t know it.” And he named the place Beth-El, The House of God. (Before that, its name had been Luz.)
