while Israel was staying in that region, Reuben slept with Bilhah, his father’s concubine.

Jacob’s Sons; The Death of Isaac [P]
The sons of Jacob were now twelve. The sons of Leah were Reuben, Jacob’s firstborn, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun. And the sons of Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin. And the sons of Bilhah, Rachel’s maid, were Dan and Naphtali. And the sons of Zil-pah, Leah’s maid, were Gad and Asher. These are the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan-aram.
And Jacob went to his father Isaac at Mamre, in Kiryat-arba (which is now Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had lived.
And when Isaac was a hundred and eighty years old, he died and was gathered to his
ancestors, old and contented. And his sons Esau and Jacob buried him.

These are the descendants of Esau. Esau took his wives from among the Canaanite women: Adah, daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah, daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon the Horite, and Basemath, daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebayoth. And Adah bore Esau Eliphaz, and Basemath bore Reuel, and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These are the sons who were born to Esau in Canaan.
And Esau took his wives, his sons and daughters, and all the people of his household, his cattle and all his livestock, and all the possessions he had acquired in Canaan, and went to Seir, away from his brother Jacob. For their possessions were so great that they couldn’t live together: the land where they were living couldn’t support their livestock. So Esau lived in the hill country of Seir (Esau is Edom).
And these are the descendants of Esau, the ancestor of the Edomites, in the hill country of Seir. These are the names of Esau’s sons: Eliphaz, son of Esau’s wife Adah, and Reuel, son of Esau’s wife Basemath. And the sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz; Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These are the descendants of Esau’s wife Adah. And these are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; they were the descendants of Esau’s wife Basemath. And these are the sons of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, daughter of Anah, son of Zibeon: she bore Esau Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah.
These are the clans of the sons of Esau. The descendants of Esau’s firstborn son Eliphaz: the clans of Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, Korah, Gatam, and Amalek. These are the clans of Eliphaz in Edom; they are the descendants of Adah. And these are the descendants of Esau’s son Reuel: the clans of Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the clans of Reuel in Edom; they are the descendants of Esau’s wife Basemath. And these are the descendants of Esau’s wife Oholibamah: the clans of Jeush, Jaalam, and Korah. These are the clans of Esau’s wife Oholibamah, daughter of Anah. These are the sons of Esau, and these are their clans.
These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These are the clans of the Horites, the descendants of Seir in Edom. And the sons of Lotan were Hori and Hemam, and Lotan’s sister was Timna. And these are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Mana-hath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. And these are the sons of Zibeon: Ayah and Anah (this is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the wilderness as he was tending his father’s donkeys). And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Anah’s daughter Oholibamah. And these are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran. And these are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan. And these are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.
These are the clans of the Horites: the clans of Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These are the clans of the Horites, clan by clan, in Seir.
And these are the kings who reigned in Edom, before any king reigned over the Israelites. Bela, son of Beor, reigned in Edom, and the name of his capital was Dinhabah. And when Bela died, he was succeeded by jobab, son of Zerah of Bozrah. And when jobab died, he was succeeded by Husham, from the land of the Temanites. And when Husham died, he was succeeded by Hadad, son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the territory of Moab, and the name of his capital was Avith. And when Hadad died, he was succeeded by Samlah of Masrekah. And when Samlah died, he was succeeded by Saul of Rehoboth-on-the-Euphrates. And when Saul died, he was succeeded by Baal-hanan, son of Akbor. And when Baal-hanan died, he was succeeded by Hadad, and the name of his capital was Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel, daughter of Matred, son of Mezahab.
And these are the names of the clans of Esau, according to their families and places, by their names: the clans of Timnah, Alvah, Jetheth, Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, Magdiel, and Iram. These are the clans of Edom, according to their settlements in the land that they possessed.
