Chapter Three

SAGE

I fidget all the way to the restaurant in the back of the town car with Jensen right next to me. His big body has no choice but to press against me. Though I’m pretty sure he’s doing it on purpose. I still can’t believe what happened and how I did what he’d told me to. I let my robe open for him, and the worst part is, I don’t know how far I would have let it go. It feels like that moment was a dream.

Brian is sitting in the front with our driver, Sam. He doesn't seem to notice that something is going on. Normally when I sneeze everyone is on me asking if I’m okay. But this happens and nothing. The world has been tilted and it doesn't ding on his overbearing-brother radar. He keeps picking up his phone and doing his own fidgeting. He’s rambling on about random things in the front seat and I have no idea what he’s saying.

Jensen stares boldly at me. I glance towards my brother to signal him to stop, but he doesn't. My brother is totally oblivious as Jensen leans over. Brian’s cell rings and he puts it to his ear. I gasp as Jensen’s nose brushes against my neck. I feel him take a deep breath like he’s trying to smell me.

I stare straight ahead and pretend nothing is happening. My brother is talking on his phone, but he could turn around any second and for some reason the thrill of that makes my whole body tingle. I’d only gotten myself under control and now I’m heating up as his breath tickles my skin.

“You smell like cookies.” The sound of him licking his lips is almost obscene. “Let me taste that pussy and see if it’s you or the batter.”

My mouth falls open at his filthy words. He just says whatever nasty thing he wants and my traitorous body is responding to it. I try to fight it because he’s so crude, but any sort of protest won’t be wholehearted.

“You’re disgusting.” I turn my head to look out the window so he can’t see the lie on my face.

I watch the buildings pass, trying to play it cool and look unfazed by what he’s doing to me. I close my eyes when his tongue slides across my neck and I feel his teeth graze against me. I have to fight to keep myself from shivering. I’m in a car with my brother in the front seat. I’ve got to get it together.

“Liar.” There’s a laugh in his voice and he’s irritatingly cocky as he leans back.

It’s a fight to keep my breathing under control as the cool air breezes across the place he just kissed. When I summon the courage to look at him, I narrow my eyes at the arrogant look on his face. How could my brother be friends with him? Meanwhile my panties are damp and a dull throb between my legs is making it hard to sit still.

“Breathe, bombshell,” he whispers, winking at me.

I want to slap him. And then maybe kiss his lips that are just a bit wet from when he licked them. He seems like a total asshole, but what’s he really done? He wants me, that’s for sure. And he knows I want him. Why does he have to be so damn sure of himself?

“Sage?” My brother says my name and my eyes snap up to his. From the sound of his voice he must have said it at least once before.

“Hmm?” I raise an eyebrow feigning innocence.

“You alright?”

“Perfect,” I answer, smiling at him. He glances over at Jensen, who shrugs like he’s totally innocent. I glare at him as my brother turns back around.

“This is Sage’s favorite restaurant,” my brother says as we finally pull up outside of the steakhouse we’ve been coming to since we were kids. It’s not my favorite because of the food, which is good, but because of the memories the place holds.

“I’ll have to remember that,” Jensen says casually right before I feel his fingers on the edge of my dress.

At that moment, thankfully, the car stops and I nearly jump out to escape the confining backseat and the electric charge that’s sparking in there.

“What’s wrong with your face?” my brother asks when he gets out and stands beside me while we wait on Jensen.

“Me?” I ask, worried that my face is giving everything away.

“No, him.” My brother nods at Jensen. “It looks like you’re smiling. It’s not normal.” I think he’s teasing him, but I have no idea.

I try and shift away from Jensen to get some distance between us so my body has a chance to cool down. But much to my agony and excitement, he only moves closer next to me as we walk towards the door of the restaurant. He does it so seamlessly I might not have noticed if the last thirty minutes hadn’t happened. Now my skin is hyper-aware of every move he makes.

“Sage.” When we walk in, I turn at the sound of my name to see Nathan coming towards me. His grandfather owns the place. He gives my brother a chin nod that Brian doesn't return. He goes to pull me in for a hug like he always does, but I unintentionally take a step back. Jensen's oversized hand has me by the wrist and he gently pulls me to his side.

“Don’t touch.” Jensen’s voice is flat and might be considered bored by an outsider. But standing this close to him, I can feel the tension rolling off him in waves. Nathan must sense it too because he takes one step back, then another.

My brother laughs. “So it’s not just me you use that line on.” My brother shakes his head and smiles. I look at him in confusion, not knowing what he’s talking about or why he doesn't care that his friend is scaring people away from me. I ignore the tingling in my wrist where Jensen’s thumb is grazing against me and hold on to my irritation.

“He says that shit at work too when I try to touch his computer,” my brother explains. He doesn’t realize that in a roundabout way Jensen all but laid claim to me. How the hell is he not seeing this?

My brother smacks him on the back. “I like having backup.”

My mouth falls open and Nathan looks as dumbfounded as I am.

“That’s enough,” I say quietly between clenched teeth as I keep a smile on my face. People could be watching us and I don’t want to cause a scene.

Jensen only looks at me as I pull on my wrist, but he doesn't let me go. I decide to give up the fight for now because it would only draw more attention to us.

“I’m hungry,” I say as we walk over to the hostess stand to be seated. Brian has stepped off to the side with his phone pressed to his ear.

“Me too,” Jensen says in a low voice as he tugs me closer to him. My body molds into his as his big frame engulfs me. For a man as big as him, I think I need the extra weight I put on to handle him. My cheeks burn at my own dirty thoughts and Jensen doesn't help as he leads me to the table. “But I’ll wait and have my meal in bed.”
