I love a bargain. I went shopping the other day and the total was around $250.00, but with coupons and discounts I paid $39.00. Our first house was a repossessed home that we bought from HUD. We had to put a bid in for it. I remember how much it pained me to have to add a little to the price just so our offer might stand out. It worked. We got the bid. We sold it thirteen years later for almost three times what we paid. I had on a pair of jeans the other day that cost me $6.00 - good thing because I found myself with a paint brush in my hand and then green paint splattered all over them. I’ll be the first one to tell you I scour the sales and clearance racks, but it does take a lot of time and energy. I can’t help but think that most of us treat God just like our bargain hunting - we want something of worth that will cost us very little. I know of many places where you can find some great bargains, but unless I spend time there and get acquainted with the store, sales racks and actually dig and search for what is available I won’t ever reap any of these great deals for myself. I’ll just watch them from afar. Many people claim to know of Jesus, but what they really mean is they only have knowledge of who he is. They don’t have an intimate relationship with him. To know Jesus is not just to be aware of him, but it’s to want him. . . And to discover that He wants you too!
“O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord (NLT).
