We all live with this expectation of being showered with the blessings of God. I don’t know anyone who does not want that. Who wouldn’t gladly accept all the good things that God has to offer. It is one of the perks of being God's children. Most of us pray for his blessings whether we admit it or not. We wait and watch for his blessings. We desire his blessings, so much so that we are often reduced to the point of even begging him for some semblance of good, extra grace or a display of his miracle working power to fall on us. But what if, all along, instead of the absence of the pain, the problem, the promotion, the rescue as signs of God's blessings, we, who are waiting, believing and anticipating, down on our knees, walking each day not giving in to doubt; what if we are the ones who actually receive the blessings of God, the miracle of God in the form of no answer versus the one who receives their all-consuming wish. What if it’s that Mom or Dad, who loves their child so unconditionally, that they are willing to give everything they have and even more if asked to do so? How about those who just won’t give up hope, even when told there is nothing left to do? How about those who refuse to believe what they see and hear, and keep trusting that God will come through no matter what their circumstances are dictating? I wonder sometimes if these are the examples that God had in mind when he said, “Blessed is the man[woman] who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him” (James 1:12). What if the miracles that we so plead with God to perform are actually disguised in the very tests of life? Would you respond any differently to your present circumstances? Praise God today no matter if you find yourself in the midst of his blessings or in a season of waiting for Him to appear.
