God Stops the World for You

My first words to my husband every time I call him at his office are “Can you talk?” Every once in a while his response leaves me breathless, “For you I’ll stop the world!” “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” (Matthew 11:28-29). When we yoke or bind ourselves to God, we attach ourselves to him and then he comes in and takes over our weary and burdened lives. Sometimes I feel unsure about bothering my spouse with trivial matters during his day knowing these things could wait until evening. But the truth is I’ve learned to take every opportunity I can to hear his voice and to not let some issues linger. When he stops his day to listen to me, help me or just chat, it reinforces his love for me by saying that even if it is just a moment and even if the matter is of no great consequence, I am more important than anything else going on in his world. God is available and waiting for you to turn to him with any and everything that is going on in your life. He will never turn you away and he doesn’t mind if you are angry, sad, upset, depressed or just want to chat.

When was the last time you called on him? Our lives can get so busy that we forget about God or think we don’t need him. We only have to pause and look at our surroundings to see his handiwork and goodness enveloping us. God’s arms are stretched out waiting for you right now. Will you call on Him? He’ll stop the world just for you.
