I would like to think it was just one moment, one bad choice in my life that changed me forever, but it was not. This book, these 40 days of words culminated after years of walking headfirst, eyes open, down roads that had DEAD END signs that I never paid attention to…Then one day God got a hold of me and opened my eyes and these choices I had made came crashing down all around me. I fully expected to die as a result of coming face to face with who I really was, and in a way a part of me did, but instead of destruction and devastation following me, I found quite the opposite. God’s strong arms wrapped around me. His soft hands wiped away my endless tears and his loving, forgiving heart lifted me out from a deep pit. I found my savior that day, or shall I say he found me and his name is Jesus Christ. He met the real me, the one I had not wanted anyone to ever see and he loved me more than anyone ever had in my life. I remember the feeling of my heart being broken and exposed one moment and then enveloped in love, mercy and forgiveness in the next. If you had asked me, I would have told you that there was no way that God could ever possibly make anything good out of the choices I had made. But through years of getting to know Jesus and walking right alongside him, I’ve realized that it’s not the things I’ve done wrong that keep me from recovering in this life. It’s my own inability to let him take control of all of my past, my present and my future and work in me to become who he had in mind from the beginning when he created me. So one day long after I had given my heart and soul to God, I recommitted everything to Him - my life, the real me, broken, full of sin, regrets, pain, and hopeless and he took it all and is working diligently to produce in me something beautiful, useful and redeeming with his love, mercy and grace, moment by moment. And if he did all of this for me, He will do it for you.
God is waiting at the cross to wipe away all your tears, forgive all your sins and comfort you with his love and mercy and produce in you a life that you could never imagine. Becoming a follower of Jesus Christ is very easy. All you need to do is:
AAdmit that you are a sinner and that you have fallen short of the Glory of God. Romans 3:23 says that “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. “
B-Believe that Jesus is God’s son and that God sent Jesus to pay the penalty for sin.
In John 3:16, Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
C-Confess with your mouth. A person must confess with their mouth his or her faith in Jesus Christ as Savior. Romans 10: 9-10, 13 says, “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
If you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, and would like to invite him to come and live in your heart today, you can pray this simple prayer.
Dear God, Thank you for choosing to love me! I know I am a sinner. I believe you sent your Son, Jesus Christ to die for my sins. I believe He rose again and lives today. Today, I repent and turn away from my sin. Thank you for your wonderful love and for changing my life forever. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
