CHAPTER 7

THE CONSCIOUS SELF

Ironically, consciousness is both biologically and philosophically resistant to full understanding. Starting with a Crown Chakra Mandala meditation, this chapter pictures the brain’s two hemispheres, connecting rational and intuitive powers, and then goes on to explore the complexities of memory and purpose. The final mandala meditation attempts to erode artificial distinctions of mind, body and spirit. Integrating all three aspects of the self into harmony through enhanced spiritual awareness gives us resilience to cope with whatever bodily ills may befall us.
