The Quadrangle
The quadrangle is the area of the palm that lies between the heart and head lines. In an average quadrangle, the two lines are between half an inch and an inch apart for most of their length and widen at each end. Naturally, this varies depending on the size of the hand.
People with average quadrangles are easy to get on with, possess a good sense of humor, and are generally upbeat and positive. If the heart and head lines gently curve, they also have a good balance between emotion and logic.
If the heart and head lines are close together for much of their length, the person will be narrow-minded, self-centered, and lack imagination and a sense of humor. There is always a degree of nervous tension in the person when his or her quadrangle is overly narrow.
When the heart and head lines are well apart, the person will be independent, sociable, and outgoing. He or she will have a strong desire to please others. The further apart the heart and head lines are, the more outgoing, spontaneous, and extroverted the person will be.
The area between the heart and head lines also reveals how generous the person will be. A narrow space reveals someone who is tight-fisted and miserly, while a large space indicates someone who is generous in all areas of life, not solely money.
A “waisted” quadrangle occurs when the two ends are significantly wider than the middle. As the area inside the quadrangle relates to the years from thirty-five to forty-nine, people with a “waisted” quadrangle will feel restless, unsettled, and lacking in focus and direction during this time.
It’s common for the quadrangle to be noticeably wider at one end than the other. If the quadrangle is wider at the percussion side (little finger side) of the palm, the person will be honest, fair, reasonable, and easy to get on with.
If the quadrangle is narrower at the percussion side, the person will find it hard to express his or her feelings. Instead of saying what he or she feels, this person will become stubborn and rigid.
The years that the destiny line spends inside the quadrangle (from thirty-five to forty-nine) are important ones. By the time the person enters the quadrangle, he or she has developed a degree of maturity and is likely to pause at this time and reassess what he or she has achieved so far. As a result of this, many people make significant changes during this period. This is most likely to be a change of career or partner, but the changes can be in any area of the person’s life.
This can also be a time when many people realize that they’ve yet to achieve anything worthwhile. Many of these people change their outlooks and attitudes and finally start making progress. Others simply give up, often spending the rest of their lives thinking of what might have been and blaming others for their lack of success. These people have destiny lines that end inside the quadrangle.
People who have already made good progress are likely to spend these years moving further ahead in their careers. These people are likely to have destiny lines that continue well beyond their heart lines.
The Great Triangle
The great triangle is formed by the head, life, and destiny lines. If the person doesn’t have a destiny line, the third line can be formed with the hepatica (health) line.
Most people have a great triangle on their hands. If it is clearly marked and well-formed, the person will be fair-minded, sympathetic, and understanding. Ideally, this triangle should be as large as possible. People with small triangles tend to be narrow-minded and selfish.
It’s a sign of timidity and weakness of character when the great triangle is faint or incomplete.
