HEAL OLD WOUNDS

Spiritual self-care isn’t just about developing your beliefs surrounding a higher power or specific faith tradition. It’s also about expanding and strengthening your relationships with others, especially those closest to you. Opening up to your partner about your feelings is one of the best ways to become closer to one another. However, true intimacy requires a willingness to be vulnerable and to trust that your partner won’t hurt you or let you down—things that don’t come naturally to many, especially those who have been hurt in the past.

In meditation, contemplate an old hurt that still triggers anger, sadness, or other unwanted emotions. Try to recover the memory of how that wound originated. Envision the person who first hurt you. Visualize a beam of pink light running between your heart and that person’s heart, softening the old pain.
