Binge Eating: A Quick Understanding
As I stated in the introduction, food addiction is real. And the truth is; being ‘hooked’ to food is just as strong as being ‘hooked’ to hard drugs like cocaine or even worse; worse because YOU MUST eat- you cannot just go cold turkey with food! Of course, you can avoid some foods but you cannot avoid everything.
To overcome food addiction, you need to understand what you are really addicted to because the truth is that you are not just addicted to food - you are addicted to sugar !
Note: By sugar, I don’t mean the sugar you put in your tea, smoothies, or coffee to make it sweet. Sugar in this case is a general term that refers to glucose and fructose; the product of digestion of carbohydrates.
Haven’t you noticed that cookies, sweets, cakes, bread, burger, potato chips, pizza, French fries, and other carbohydrate rich foods form the biggest part of whatever it is you binge? It is not by coincidence that you don’t binge on leafy greens or cruciferous vegetables; they are not tasty enough! In other words, they (vegetables and greens) don’t bring the same good feeling that high carbohydrate foods bring.
There is a major problem though; besides sugar being highly addictive (you will learn why), it not good for you and opens the door to various chronic degenerative diseases states, which is why you MUST do everything in your power to break free from the addiction.
To give you the motivation to take action NOW, let’s start by learning the effects of sugar, which is really what you are addicted to, in your body.
