Every one needs a place to belong.

Hide and Seek

Joshua 1 – 4, 6

It’s time to lead my people into the Promised Land,” God told Joshua. “Be strong and brave. I am with you.”

Joshua sent two spies to see the land and the city of Jericho with its tall, strong walls. A woman named Rahab hid the spies on the roof of her house.

Rahab wanted to know God. “Everyone here is afraid,” she said. “We know what God has done for you. We know he rules over heaven and earth! Please let me and my family live when you come to take over our city.”

“You have been kind to us,” said the spies. “Keep this cord of red thread in your window. When our army comes, we will know this is your house. We will let you and your family live.”

Rahab helped the spies get away before anyone in Jericho could find them. They climbed down the city wall using a rope. Then Rahab hung the red cord in her window.

When the Israelite army came to Jericho, the scouts found Rahab’s house. They helped her and her family escape. The walls of Jericho tumbled down, but Rahab was safe among God’s people.
