First appearing in Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis (2016), Atalantaya is the name of the city most commonly known in present day as Atlantis.
Amel creates Atalantaya nearly ten thousand years before the Common Era. Born to human parents, Amel is abducted at the age of twelve by a race of aliens called Bravennans, who devour human suffering. After the Bravennans augment Amel’s genetic structure, giving him superhuman strength and intellect as well as immortality and the ability to rapidly regenerate, the Bravennans return the newly enhanced Amel back to Earth with the mission of repairing their transmission stations, which they claim are harmless devices that observe the human race. Although the Bravennans intentionally mislead Amel, his superior intellect deduces that the transmission stations are not only a means of observation for the Bravennans but also the means by which they feed on human suffering. Moreover, he learns that the Bravennans are also the instigators of much human suffering by means of wars, cataclysms, natural disasters, and other ways human suffering is maintained on Earth. Guided by a sense of morality that he develops during his first twelve years as a human, Amel seeks ways to disrupt the transmission stations in the hope of preventing human suffering, shielding humans by creating cities and caring for them with his superior abilities. Finally, Amel extracts samples of Bravennan chemical compounds used in his heightened genetic structure. He then alters those compounds and develops his own superior substance that he calls luracastria. Foreign to Bravennan scientists, luracastria is an unknown matter that the Bravennan transmission stations cannot penetrate. Thus, mass-producing great quantities of luracastria, Amel not only sets up luracastria shields and barriers around the transmission stations to prevent the Bravennans from observing, feeding on, and causing human suffering, but he also creates the greatest city that has ever been—Atalantaya.
Everything in Atalantaya is created out of luracastria: buildings, sidewalks, driving pods, elevator pods, and clothing. Even the dome spanning over the entire city of Atalantaya is made of luracastria. Mortals come from all over Earth to live in the great city, where they feel no real suffering. Even the Replimoids—the humanoid assassins that the Bravennans send to stop Amel—are impressed with Amel’s creation, and many join his cause. Amel rules over Atalantaya for many years until the Bravennans destroy it in a shower of meteors that melts the luracastria completely. Atalantaya sinks into the sea, never to be found again. Amel’s body perishes along with his great city, yet his etheric body in the particles that compose his soul survives.
