Mentioned in Blood Canticle (2003), Dolly Jean Mayfair is a part of the witch family that separates during the feud between Julien and Augustine Mayfair. Before her birth, her family moves away from the Riverbend plantation and starts a new Mayfair plantation called Fontevrault. By the time Dolly Jean is living there with her granddaughter, Mary Jane, Fontevrault has fallen into ruins.
When Mona Mayfair becomes pregnant with Michael Curry’s child, Dolly Jean’s granddaughter, a powerful witch, senses that Mona’s baby is a Taltos, so she brings Mona out to the Fontevrault plantation to give birth. Because giving birth to a Taltos is extremely difficult, especially for non-Taltos mothers like Mona, Dolly Jean assists in the delivery and observes how quickly after the birth the baby, whom they name Morrigan, becomes a Walking Baby, who grows to an adult immediately.
