Garekyn is one of the Replimoids who help Lestat free Amel from his mind and provide Amel with a new body. Garekyn appears in Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis (2016).
For the fight in the rebellion against Amel on Earth, scientists from the planet Bravenna create humanoid beings out of the cells of every living creature from planet Earth, perfect superhumans who have the ability to regenerate immortally. The Bravennans call them Replimoids and send them to Earth in waves of raiding parties to destroy Amel. Each party fails to resist Amel’s superior intellect and strength. One of the last parties to be sent consists of four Replimoids: Kapetria, Derek, Welf, and Garekyn, all of whom are created to look like the dark-skinned peoples who live on what will become the African continent.
The Bravennans inform their Replimoids that Amel is also a Replimoid who is hurting the human race and that their purpose is to stop Amel and help earthlings live in harmony. Then the Bravennans send Garekyn and the Replimoids to Earth. The Replimoids soon discover that it is the Bravennans who are hurting the human race, and it is actually Amel who is fighting to protect earthlings. Deciding to combine their abilities, they form into a group called the People of the Purpose. United, they help Amel thwart Bravennan plans for human exploitation, collaborating together in Amel’s stronghold, the city of Atlantis. When the Bravennans discover that the Replimoids have failed in their mission, they send a meteor shower to Earth, which destroys Amel, sinks Atlantis into the ocean, and separates Garekyn from his Replimoid companions. Garekyn drifts in the ocean until he washes ashore and wanders throughout the land that comes to be called Siberia. Exhausted, he goes into the Siberian mountains and sleeps. Time buries him under snow and inside ice.
Almost eleven thousand years later, he is discovered by a Russian amateur anthropologist, Prince Alexi Brovotkin. He brings Garekyn out of Siberia and back to the Brovotkin palace in Saint Petersburg. Prince Alexi loves Garekyn, educates him, and even adopts him, giving him the last name Zweck Brovotkin, as well as the title “Prince,” thus Garekyn comes to be known as Prince Garekyn Zweck Brovotkin.
He lives on into the twenty-first century, vaguely able to remember his past with the other Replimoids, until one night two vampires break into his home and attack him. One of those vampires, Avicus, has already encountered and drunk the blood of Derek, Garekyn’s former Replimoid colleague. The other vampire, Garrick, does not survive the assault. Garekyn leaves Avicus alive while taking Garrick’s head and fleeing from the house. He has never desired to harm another individual, yet he feels instinctively compelled to drink Garrick’s brain fluid. Upon doing so, Garekyn receives flashes of memory from the time he lived in Atlantis, and he becomes consumed with finding more vampires, who might help him discover more of this past.
In New York, near the vampire compound at Trinity Gate, Garekyn encounters the vampire Eleni, formerly of Armand’s Children of Darkness and the Théâtre des Vampires, as well as the vampire Killer, formerly of the Fang Gang, who survived the Great Burning of 1985 after Akasha awakened. Garekyn ruptures Eleni’s skull and kills Killer by taking his head and drinking the brain fluid, which enables him to see more visions of his past in Atlantis with the other Replimoids.
When news of his struggle with the vampires comes to Kapetria and Welf, who are working as mortal doctors in Gregory Duff Collingsworth’s research laboratories, they leave their work in search of their former companion. After finding him, they form an alliance with the vampires. Together they cooperate on finding a solution that can release the spirit of Amel from Lestat’s brain. After that, Garekyn and his Replimoid compatriots live in harmony with the vampires, whom they consider to be allies in immortality.
