Interview with the Vampire

• VAMPIRE CHRONICLE •

At nearly two centuries old, the vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac tells the story of his vampire life to Daniel Malloy. Louis is turned into a vampire in 1791, in New Orleans, by the vampire Lestat. Louis’s efforts to seek the meaning of his vampire existence are thwarted by Lestat’s cavalier attitude towards life. While living in New Orleans, they both make the child vampire, Claudia, who matures into an immortal trapped in a child’s body. As Lestat continues to disappoint Louis and Claudia, they grow to despise him for having turned them into vampires. Claudia and Louis attempt to murder Lestat before fleeing to Europe, where they encounter the three-hundred-year-old Armand and his coven at Théâtre des Vampires. At Lestat’s prompting, Armand’s coven kills Claudia while Armand and Louis form a deep friendship. Louis spends his life up through the twentieth century seeking meaning.
