Miravelle is one of the four Taltos children of Morrigan Mayfair and Ashlar. Along with her brothers, Silas and Oberon, and her sister, Lorkyn, she lives with other Taltos on a secret island owned by her father. Her brother Silas begins secretly poisoning her parents to weaken them, as part of a plan for open rebellion to stop the threat of other mortals living on nearby islands, particularly the drug lord Rodrigo, who lives on the nearest island. When Miravelle’s parents are too weak to resist because of being poisoned, Silas captures his family and any other Taltos who reject his rebellion, which lasts two years. Miravelle and Morrigan attempt to stop Silas by blinding him with a screwdriver, but Silas’s rebellion is undaunted. He attacks Rodrigo, but Rodrigo retaliates by coming to the island and gunning down Silas and the rebelling Taltos.
Rodrigo then locks Miravelle’s parents inside the compound’s large freezer, where they freeze to death. The island is eventually liberated by Miravelle’s grandmother (Morrigan’s mother), Mona Mayfair, who has been turned into a vampire. Accompanying her is her maker, Lestat, and her paramour, Quinn Blackwood. After the three vampires destroy all the Drug Merchants, they find Miravelle’s parents in the freezer, covered in frost, holding each other like sleeping angels. Mona takes Morrigan’s and Ashlar’s bodies back to Mayfair Medical for examination. She also invites her granddaughter Miravelle, along with Oberon and Lorkyn, to New Orleans, so that they can be a family together.
Miravelle appears in Blood Canticle (2003). For more perspectives on Miravelle in the Vampire Chronicles, read the Alphabettery entries Ashlar, Lestat de Lioncourt, Lorkyn, Mayfair Medical Center, Mona Mayfair, Morrigan Mayfair, Oberon, Quinn Blackwood, Silas, and Taltos.
