When Amel fuses with Akasha, and she becomes the first vampire, she creates vampire fledglings and identifies herself as the goddess Isis. She becomes worshipped not only as a goddess but also as the Mother of all blood drinkers. This title remains with her for several thousands of years, all the way into the late twentieth century, used most often by the caretaker of Those Who Must Be Kept, the vampire Marius.
