Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis

• VAMPIRE CHRONICLE •

In this twelfth book of the Vampire Chronicles, Lestat tells how the spirit of Amel now lives in him, making him the host carrier of the Sacred Core of vampire existence, as well as the ruling Prince of all vampires. When a new breed of immortals is discovered who have the ability to replicate themselves, Amel begins to remember his past. The vampires meet with these replicating immortals, one of whom is Kapetria. She tells the tale of how she and her Replimoid companions were created on the planet Bravenna, informed that Amel is a traitor, and ordered to destroy him and his creation, the city of Atlantis. When they come to Earth, they learn that Amel created the city to protect the people of Earth from being exploited by the Bravennans, who consume human suffering through a transference of psychic energy. Amel also informs them that he is originally from Earth but was abducted by the Bravennans, genetically enhanced into a superhuman, and returned to Earth to help them feed off human suffering. He created a unique substance called luracastria, which prevents Bravennans from exploiting humans. The Replimoids join Amel, but the Bravennans soon learn of their treachery and send a meteor shower to Earth, which destroys Atlantis and Amel. His spirit still possesses the genetic enhancements of his formerly corporeal state, and he roams the etheric world for thousands of years, forgetting about his former life, until he fuses with Akasha, to create the first vampire. By using her own Replimoid cells, Kapetria creates a clone of the body Amel had in Atlantis. Then she works with the vampires Fareed and Seth to extract Amel from Lestat’s brain and transfer him into the cloned body. Now vampires no longer need to depend on a vampire host to sustain their existence. Lestat and Amel can finally see and speak with each other face-to-face.
