Replimoid

• IMMORTAL •

Scientists from the planet Bravenna create human fetuses out of cells from all of Earth’s life chain and grow those fetuses into humanoids. These humanoids are genetically enhanced to replicate themselves; their replicating ability is also regenerative, which grants them immortality. They have dark skin like many humanoids from the African continent. At first, these humanoids look the same, until Bravennan scientists develop ways of creating variety in their cloning procedures. The Bravennans then refer to these replicating humanoids as replimammoids, but this is soon shortened to simply “Replimoids.”

Their replication occurs by severing one of their limbs so that a new appendage grows in place while the severed limb grows into an entirely new humanoid life. This happens in the case of Derek, when Rhoshamandes severs his left arm. A new arm regenerates out of Derek’s torso, in the place where it had been cut off, while the actual severed appendage grows into a perfect clone of Derek, whom he calls Dertu—a combination of “Derek Two.”

The Bravennans send multiple raiding parties of Replimoids to attack a previous Bravennan experiment named Amel, who has created the city of Atlantis to thwart the Bravennan agenda for consuming the psionic energy of human suffering. Amel’s superior intellect and strength either defeats the Replimoids or converts them to his cause. This is especially true with the last group of Replimoids sent to Earth, consisting of Kapetria, Derek, Garekyn, and Welf.

When the Bravennans destroy Amel and Atlantis, the Replimoids are separated for thousands of years, but they reunite in the twenty-first century to help Lestat and his vampire companions provide a Replimoid host body for the spirit of Amel.

Replimoids appear in Prince Lestat and the Realms of Atlantis (2016) and Blood Communion (2018). For more perspectives on Replimoids, read the Alphabettery entries Amel, Atlantis, Bravenna, Bravennans, Derek, Dertu, Garekyn, Kapetria, Luracastria, and Welf.
