When drummer Alex; his brother and keyboardist, Larry; and guitarist Tough Cookie form a band and play around the bars in New Orleans, they call themselves Satan’s Night Out. But that name is short-lived, since the vampire Lestat, who happens to be listening to them nearby, approaches them, reveals his vampire nature, and then offers them fame and fortune, if they would be his band. Gladly accepting, Lestat changes their name from Satan’s Night Out to the Vampire Lestat, which goes on to become an international success.
Satan’s Night Out appears in The Vampire Lestat (1985). For more perspectives on Satan’s Night Out in the Vampire Chronicles, read the Alphabettery entries Alex, Larry, Lestat de Lioncourt, Tough Cookie, and The Vampire Lestat.
