After Quinn Blackwood’s mother, Patsy, contracts HIV, she continues to perform her music in New Orleans with her one-man band, Seymour. In time, the two become intimate. She never tells him that she is HIV positive, and he eventually becomes infected as well. Considered by Quinn to be an obnoxious, opportunistic scum, Seymour sues the Blackwood estate, yet the matter is settled out of court. Seymour receives a large amount of money, but his disease kills him shortly after the lawsuit makes him wealthy.
