Chapter Twenty Two
Sierra lay back against the pillows of her bed a few hours later, allowing her gaze to drift out of the window as her thoughts wandered through the information that had been lain on her. It had been a lot to take in, a lot to understand, yet everything about their Hexagon made the most simple sense to Sierra in a way she couldn't have imagined it would.
The Hexagon, Sierra had learnt, was a six pointed star of which they each represented one point. Logan, with his ability to absorb or alter knowledge by a simple touch, represented the brain. Nik, with his ability to strengthen himself in all aspects, represented the part that needed to be the strongest-  the spirit. Josh, with his healing hands and ability to detect injuries, represented the body. Leo, with his mind reading and ability to transfer thoughts to others, represented the mind. Theo, with his ability to sense and manipulate others' emotions, represented heart. Finally Sierra, with her ability to control the elements and talk to the animals, represented nature and tied them all together in a unit-in the Hexagon.
They had gone on to explain that the bond was something not entered into until they were all connected; if Sierra chose not to join them then they would not be able to form a bond, but they would still be a team at least. Once the bond was formed their powers would begin to change, to grow and adapt to ensure they were able to help their whole Hex when needed. Sierra could not picture wanting her powers to be more than they already were, but with the guys assurances she hoped to learn control over her ability so that, if it did grow, it wouldn't devour her whole. They had promised to help her, to begin training her as soon as she was well enough to try. The biggest problem was not knowing what their powers could become, whether they would simply become stronger and more adept at using their powers, or if they would manifest into more, into branches of their current abilities. It was rare, but not unheard of.
Sierra was not too proud to admit that the second option instilled a certain amount of fear within her- a fear that she had chosen not to share with the guys .
She sighed a she rubbed her hands across the bed sheet. This whole time, her whole life, there had been a hidden world around her that would have given her a home when she needed it most, if only she had known it existed. She was grateful to the guys, and always would be, but she couldn't help the trickle of resentment in her chest that it had taken so long for their apparent Council to find her. A thought flittered across her mind as she remembered her Mothers words-she wasn't even meant to have been born, so what would have happened to their Hexagon if she wasn't?
Her mind whirred with the information and she rubbed her hands over her face. Darkness had long since fallen and the guys had left her on her own as they commanded for her to sleep. She snorted at the idea; they had actually ordered her to lie down, close her eyes, and go to sleep. After spending years under her Father's rule they had another thing coming if they thought they could begin to boss her around instead.
She was finally free, and she had no intention to begin bowing to another man. Regardless of how hot and tempting they each were.
She allowed her thoughts to stray there for a moment as she remembered their earlier conversation and her cheeks heated once more. They had made their stance clear; if she gave the word then they would all happily be with her, they even seemed to expect it. It was an intriguing thought, and not one she had ever considered before, hell, she had never even had a boyfriend before, never been kissed. And now she was considering a relationship with all five of them? Was that even possible?
She shook her head, deciding it would have to be a situation that they dealt with as it came. It was uncharted territory and she wasn't willing to definitely say yes or no to something she was so inexperienced in. What she would do, however, was test the waters and find out how she really felt about each of them, how she felt past the initial attraction and intrigue and whether it felt like something that they could pursue and turn into more. If they could then she would be all in.
As for the bond...Logan had explained that it already existed, and they each felt a draw to her that they assumed she didn't feel because of her stunted powers. She had stung slightly at those words and had pulled her lips in to prevent the pout that tried to emerge, but she knew that he was right. Her lack of control and years of pushing her abilities down inside of her had resulted in them not coming to full fruition and, apparently, were the reason she had not been able to feel the instant connection to the guys that they had felt for her. Once her training commenced, once her powers became more controlled and developed, she would feel the affects of the bond and it would be like a drug, making her want to choose to cement the bond with them permanently.
For life.
For ever.
If she didn't make her mind up on her own, then her powers would do it for her.
She rolled over onto her side, allowing herself to sink into the bed and release the thoughts plaguing her which, at this moment, she could do nothing about. Instead she allowed herself to think of the guys, of the things that made each of them so special, of the ways in which they made her heart and stomach flutter even if she didn't want to admit it fully yet. They filled her dreams, her heart, her soul. The bond was growing, and she hadn't even begun yet.
