A Perfect Day In Jersey

9.00am

Breakfast

Indulge in a buffet breakfast in the Harbour Room of the Pomme d’Or Hotel in the heart of St Helier (Liberation Square; breakfast Mon–Sat from 7am–10am, Sun 8am–10am) and enjoy views of the yacht marina across the square.

10.00am

Picture-postcard harbour

Head out east from St Helier to Gorey, where the picture-postcard harbour sits below the great medieval stronghold of Mont Orgueil. Climb the ramparts for magnificent views, stroll around the harbour and stop for coffee on the quayside.

12 noon

Heading north

Explore at least a section of the majestic north coast, with its towering cliffs and perfect little fishing ports. Head north from Gorey via the B30 and B46, pass the famous Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust, then dip down to quaint Bonne Nuit Bay, its tiny harbour sheltered by a single stone jetty.

12.45pm

Cliff walk

Pick up the cliff footpath eastwards in the direction of Bouley Bay to see some of the North Coast’s most spectacular scenery. For lunch try the seafood, crab sandwiches or Thai specials at Bonne Nuit’s café, overlooking the pretty bay.

2.00pm

St Aubin

Return to the south coast via the scenic Waterworks Valley and head east for St Aubin. Explore the port, browse in the Harbour Gallery arts and crafts centre, then head on west for St Brelade’s Bay.

3.30pm

Afternoon relaxation

Relax on the beach here, take a dip or try your hand at wakeboarding or blokarting. If a quiet beach is more your scene, head a short distance west for the beautiful little bay of Beauport, reached down a bracken-covered cliff.

6.00pm

Corbière

It’s only a short hop to Corbière Lighthouse, Jersey’s most dramatic landmark. Watch the sun dip into the Atlantic.

7.00pm

Dinner options

Then enjoy gourmet fare at the Ocean Restaurant, Atlantic Hotel, with sublime views over St Ouen’s Bay (advance booking, tel: 01534 744101). Cheaper options are pub grub with bay views at La Pulente in St Ouen’s Bay, or the seafood cafés along St Brelade’s Bay.

10.00pm

On the town

Back in St Helier spend a relaxing evening at the Royal Yacht Hotel, Weighbridge, right in the centre. Choose from bubbles in the POSH Champagne Bar or a nice quiet pint in the snug Cabin Bar. Alternatively just go with the flow in The Drift, a live music venue.
