“GUNTHER COME here!” he yelled at the dragon.
“Hurry, take Sophia and Kanani,” Lamorak told him.
Gunther put his head down and Lamorak shoved Sophia onto the big dragon, and then handed Kanani to her. Merlin jumped on too. As soon as they were on him Lamorak told him to fly away. Then he grabbed his sword, and turned to fight. Sophia held on and looked down at the battle below. Gunther was flying fast and high so they could only see specks on the ground. She was frightened that Lamorak would get killed; that they would be lost. Merlin was sitting behind her on Gunther. That at least gave her some comfort!
I’m here with you Sophie, I love you. Slurp Slurp. Kanani kissed Sophia.
“Thank you, girl. I love you too.” Sophie told her.
“I should go back and help fight,” said Gunther.
“No,” said Merlin, “we are here to protect you.”
“Merlin, couldn’t he put us somewhere and go back and fight?” Sophie pleaded.
“No, the orders were for Gunther to take off with us, Sophia. Gunther why don’t you land over there.” Merlin was pointing to point high small clearing deep in the forest.
Gunther turned towards the forest and slowly guided down between the trees. He let them off. Sophia looked around. It was a gorgeous jungle. However, she was visibly shaken. With a sword in her hand she sat upon a tree trunk. Kanani came over and put her head on Sophie’s lap giving her comfort. Gunther put his paw beside Sophie and stared into her face. Merlin climbed a tree and looked behind them to see if anyone was coming their way. It was very peaceful. Would the others find them? Where they still alive?
