JACQUES LE GOFF was born in Paris but has lived in Ireland for the past twelve years. His lifelong interest in the art of photography and his love of the Irish countryside were the impetus behind his involvement in this publication – a decision made before he discovered that the author possessed no navigational skills whatsoever and was as likely to lead him, and his dog Jess, into the middle of a bog as to the site of an ancient monument.

PIP SIDES specialises in black and white photography. He also employs infra-red photographic film which lends a ghostly romantic effect to his studies of what he terms ‘spiritual Ireland’: its castles, stone circles, burial tombs and natural landscape. Pip’s work can be viewed at his solo exhibitions, in his own gallery in the Buttermarket Craft & Design Centre, Enniskillen, or online at: www.pipsidesphotography.com
A native of Cavan, Pip divides his time between his studio in Enniskillen and his retreat in west Clare.
