Dr Joanna Matthan MA (English), MBBS, PGDipClinEd, SFHEA is Lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Newcastle University, England, with a background in Medicine and English and a previous career in the corporate world. She sidestepped from clinical medicine into medical education and now predominantly teaches anatomy to medical and dental students. She also teaches clinically relevant anatomy to postgraduate medical graduates training to be surgeons, anesthetists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals, as well as promoting anatomical knowledge widely through public engagement. Her research interests range from anatomy pedagogy to those in the wider sphere of clinical education. She is Councillor of the Anatomical Society, and a member of the British Association of Clinical Anatomists.
